The Reformed Libertarians Podcast is dedicated to answering the question: How does a genuinely biblically Reformed Christian faith and worldview provide distinctive grounding for a view of civil governance and related matters of economy, and their broader cultural and societal contexts?

We explore politics (and other fields) through the lens of foundational commitment to the confessionally Reformed understanding of Scripture, enriched by Reformed covenantal, redemptive-historical theological reflection, and informed by Neo-Calvinist (or Reformational) philosophical inquiry and insights into God’s general revelation in created reality.

Some current ostensibly Christian approaches to politics (and other fields) tend to treat it at surface levels and piecemeal. For example, such approaches may address politics on the level of ethics, without examining it in its deepest and broader connections. They may rightly recognize (as far as it goes) the need for people to acquire and maintain commitments to certain morals, values, and virtues in order to sustain societal institutions and a way of life.

However, in contrast to such approaches, the Reformed Libertarians Podcast also seeks to address the more comprehensive and foundational religious (concerning the ultimate origin of reality), and religiously-grounded worldview concerns, such as metaphysical/ontological (concerning the basic nature of reality in general, and of human nature and societal relations in particular) and epistemological and praxeological presuppositions (concerning the basic nature of human knowledge, experience, and action), all of which necessarily underwrite ethical views and practices.

Further, some current ostensibly Christian approaches to politics promote a view of ethics that is leveraged to undermine or conflict with libertarian normative insight concerning civil justice and liberty that are most consonant with God’s revelation (in Scripture and created reality) and most conducive to human flourishing.

The Reformed Libertarians Podcast seeks to counter such misconceptions and erroneously illiberal (effectively authoritarian) alternatives. We aim to communicate to both an academic and interested non-academic audience how the Reformed faith and worldview provide positive grounding for libertarian political philosophy, free market economics, and a similarly normative view of their cultural and societal contexts.
